flavor of bourbon

Barely into the new year and nipping at the bottle you say, things can’t be that bad can they?
No, they most certainly aren’t but You Find how can one resist the lure of a beautiful cocktail now that blood oranges are back in season?
As part of my good eating plan of 2015, the occasional drink or two is most definitely part of it, especially when it’s made at home and full of vitamin rich citrus.   Plus, I’m trying to live by the motto of celebrating all things instead of dwelling on the bad things this year.  Which means saying cheers to the big and little successes.

You got up early to get a few things done before work? Cheers to that! You made it to the gym today and came home to cook a good meal? You get a high five! Your boss recognized the good work you’ve been doing? Well then you definitely get a cocktail!

Now a paloma is traditional a tequila based cocktail YouFind but a few months ago I was having dinner at a Barbecue/Mexican fusion restaurant in Manhattan that decided to serve theirs up with some bourbon instead.
Who can say no to that? I can’t.

It was on the schedule to recreate as soon as Metro Ethernet grapefruits were back in season but the lure of blood oranges drew me in.  I can’t resist the crimson hue and the slightly sweeter taste you get from a traditional orange.  Mixed with pink grapefruit and lime juice you get a lovely sweet, yet tart fruit juice that compliments flavor of bourbon.

Plus the color, add a little sunshine to the dreary days of winter.
